I was asked to do the devotional for our Mommy's night out. This is what God has lead me to talk about :) God Bless all you mommies!
“And the Name of the city from that day shall be THE LORD IS THERE”
Ezekiel 48:35
How exciting for their city to be called “The Lord is there!” What if that was what Pryor was called? How would you feel living in a place called “The Lord is there?” What a blessing in our lives! But it can even be better.
I went to Southern California as a teenager and we saw where the celebrities lived on a tour. We would all look out one side of the bus and that was where Dustin Hoffman lived or the other side and we could see Michael J. Fox’s house. The whole time the tour guide was pointing and saying “that is where so and so lives.”
“And if it seems evil for you to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15
What if people looked at your house and said “that is where the Lord is?” How are you showing that your life is serving the Lord? When people are in your home are they at such comfort, because the Lord is there, or are they being rushed out and made to feel unwanted? My best friend since I was 5 came to stay with us for a week in June of 2007. Her husband was deployed that April and she was living with her mom until December when he came home. Melanie was a new Christian and her mom practices Wicca. As you can imagine this was not a great home for her and her new son to be in. Melanie and Noah came to see us about 8 hours north of her mom. It had been a long time and this would be the first time I was meeting baby Noah. After the week, we were going to drive her back to Sacramento and go to my High school reunion and a big family reunion for Brook’s grandparents. Melanie was so sad to be leaving us. Even though our home was very small and my 3 children and the baby were all sharing a room and Melanie was in the living room, she still felt at home there. While we were camping at Donner Lake that next week, Brook had me call Melanie and invite her to stay with us until Alex (her husband) came home. WHAT?!?!?! That was going to be for 6 more months. This was not like Brook, but in being a servant of the Lord, he felt compelled to open our small home to Melanie and Noah. They stayed with us until December 22nd, when Alex came home.
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
Ephesians 5:8
So when you are out are you the one people look at and see the Lord shinning through. When people see you are they saying, “The Lord is there?” Are you allowing God’s light to shine through? Or are you trying to just keep your faith between Him and you and not sharing all the Lord has given with other?
We have all chosen to Homeschool, for one reason or another. But when it comes down to it, the thing we want all of our children to learn is how to be good Christians to share the gospel and to help those we can help. Are you showing them that, or just telling them. Children learn what the live and not really what the books tell us to do.
As I end I would like to remember this amazing woman in the Bible.
Luke 21:1-4
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
Are we showing our love to God, our Light for Him and our Kindness as Jesus asked out of the extra we have, weather it be time or money or space, or are we giving out of what we have without thinking of the extra we need in order to give?

That is a very good devotional - I like how you used the verse about the city being called "the Lord is there" and used it to challenge us about whether people can look at our home and say "the Lord lives there!"
Really good, cousin girl!
