Good Morning Friends :O) What a beautiful day to see the Lord working in your life. What is He doing in your life today?
Today's reading is Genesis 29-30 and Galatians 5
We continue our reading of Jacob this morning. Remember he had gone off to find his uncle and take a wife from him. He did find his uncle and his uncle had 2 daughters. He wanted his younger daughter Rachel, so his uncle had him work 7 years for him, promising he could have her in the end. That was not the case. After 7 years he gave Jacob Leah, his older daughter. He took her but also wanted Rachel, so he worked another 7 years to get Rachel. He kept working for his father in law for quite a while afterward too, as his father in law was prospering from Jacob's work.
He had a whole gaggle of sons (Andrew, I had to say it. hahahaha). He had 6 with Leah, 2 with Leah's maid, 2 with Ranchel's maid and finally 1 with Rachel. By then he was ready to leave his father in laws land.
You know marriage is not easy, and to have your father in law make you work to get his daughter's hand, then to have your father in law give you the wrong daughter, then work some more (that probably put a little stress on the marriage and the sisters, knowing Jacob''s love was always for Rachel.)Then to have 1 wife barren and one conceiving sons like crazy probably added to the stress. Then you add in some other women, even though the wives gave those women to Jacob.... I can imagine sharing my husband, that's all I am saying.
In Galatians we read about how we are no longer slaves to the law but free. Not free to give into the flesh, but free to serve God! How are you serving God in your everyday life? Are you loving your neighbors? Are you defending the fatherless and the widows? Are you spending your days doing everything you can to glorify God?
Just some questions for your to ponder. Have a blessed day.
