Day 8

Good Morning Friends! Today's Readings are Genesis 20-22 and Galatians 2

God showed Abraham and Sarah that he would keep his promise even when they were old, to be the father of the nations. Isaac was born to Sarah! How exciting. But Sarah was upset about Hagar and Ishmael staying there and possibly stealing Isaac's rightful heritage as the 1st born son. Even back then you see the strife of a broken family, while you watch Abraham send Hagar and Ishmael away. And even though Hagar had a small pity party for herself in the wilderness, God sent an angel to bring her comfort. Just shows that life if hard, but God is always there, caring for His people.

Abraham fears God and follows what He says without question. In this day and age, how ofter do we follow without question? Something to think about as you read Genesis 22. Abraham knows that God must have a plan. This is Abraham's only son and he is supposed to be the father of the all the nations. Abraham does just what God asks him to do and in the end He blesses him, not only by sending the ram to take Isaac's place, but also in being the father of all the nations. God is good to provide when we need something.

In Galatians we are reminded that as we read the old testament, we are forced by the laws of Moses any longer. The 8 days after birthday circumcision is no longer a sign of being one of God's chose people. Instead we are chosen not becasue of something we do but becasue of what Jesus did for us. He died for the Jewish and the non-Jewish people of the world.

Have a blessed Saturday!!!!
